Altura Fragrance House began at a kitchen counter — two melting pots, a row of essential oils, and the conviction that a candle should feel like a small ceremony.
Janneth & Michael Herman
Janneth brings deep fragrance expertise and a lifelong connection to manufacturing to Altura Fragrance House. Raised in the Andes, she grew up around family-run production facilities where craftsmanship, quality, and attention to detail were simply part of everyday life. While most children were learning to ride bicycles, Janneth was learning how products were made, packaged, and brought to market.
Her true gift, however, is her sense of smell.
Janneth has spent years studying fragrance composition and developing an instinctive understanding of how scent creates memory, emotion, and connection. She can identify fragrance notes most people can't even describe and often catches subtle imbalances that would go completely unnoticed by anyone else. More than once, she has walked into a room and immediately identified a fragrance ingredient hidden within a blend. It's equal parts expertise and what her family affectionately refers to as a superpower.
Michael handles the creative direction, sales, logistics, and approximately 97% of the unnecessary overthinking.
While Janneth is focused on creating beautiful fragrances, Michael can often be found adjusting a label by half a millimeter, reorganizing displays that nobody else noticed were "wrong," or rearranging store shelves because the candles weren't achieving proper visual harmony. Some call it attention to detail. Others call it a mild but highly productive case of OCD.
Together, they founded Altura Fragrance House with a simple belief: fragrance should feel personal, candles should be made with intention, and no one should ever have to settle for a candle that smells like "Ocean Breeze" but somehow reminds you of a public restroom.
